After significant discussion, it was decided by those in attendance at last night's meeting of the Quad City Disc Golf Club, to postpone the date of the River Cities Rumble until later in the year.
This is not a decision that has been taken lightly or made easily, and in fact, has been the club's main topic of discussion for at least the past three weeks. I deeply regret having to make such a call, but feel it is in best interest of all those involved.
Aside from the potential for flooding at some courses, the main reason for making this decision is because there was a very real possibility of having the event cancelled 'day of' by the authorities at West Lake Park. It just isn't a gamble we're willing to take.
I contacted the PDGA's Tour Manager, Dave Gentry, this morning and let him know of our decision. Our next step is to provide Dave with alternative dates so that we can reschedule the event. We'll keep everyone informed as details for the new event develops.
Anyone who has paid their entry fee, donated cash, or made other material contributions, will have that returned ASAP.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but feel that you deserve the very best we have to offer when participating in an A-tier tournament. If we had gone on as planned, I don't believe you would have gotten that.
